Birth vs Current Dasha

Why birth MD/AD can differ from today’s periods.

Two different questions

Birth Dasha answers: which MD/AD/PD applied at the birth instant.
Current / reference Dasha answers: which MD/AD/PD applies on a chosen date (often “today”).

Example pattern

A chart may show Birth as Mars/Mercury while a 2026 reference date shows Rahu/Jupiter. That is not a contradiction — periods advance with time.

Look for dual labels and the as-of date on the Vimshottari section.

Common mistakes

  • Reading only “current” and calling it the birth dasha.
  • Comparing without matching the as-of date and ayanamsha.
