Understanding Ayanamsha

What sidereal ayanamsha changes — and what it does not.

What ayanamsha changes

Ayanamsha is the offset between the tropical and sidereal zodiac. Changing it shifts sidereal longitudes for planets and Lagna, which can change signs, Nakshatra, and derived tables.

What it does not change

The underlying ephemeris event times (civil birth instant).
Your saved birth data fields.
Whether PDF is allowed (that is entitlement, not ayanamsha).

Preview vs save

Astro Settings can preview another school temporarily. Saving as default updates future opens for your account preference. Always note which school a client report used.

Why two apps may differ

Different ayanamsha, house system, true/mean node, or birth-time rounding will disagree even when both are “correct” inside their rules. Kundli 8 documents its schools; match settings before comparing.
